Prerequisites

• Good leadership skills

• Adaptable, creative and friendly
• Skills/ interest in the class being taught
• Growing Christian faith

Requirements

• You must arrive 10 minutes prior to the class starting
• You are required to help set up, clean up, participate in and help the children with the requirements of the class
• You will work alongside a group of children and interact with them
• You are required to listen to and follow the Supervisor’s directions
• Encourage and praise the children
• Be aware of individual children who may need extra support
• Develop positive relationships between yourself and the children
• You are required to support the supervisors behavior management system
• Be a positive role model
• You must report all accidents immediately to the Supervisor who will record them in the accident and medical book
• Be familiar with emergency requirements and procedures
• You must be familiar with and help implement SHARP Policies (especially Discipline, Safety and Fire)
• You need to accept and act on constructive professional criticism (i.e. make changes to your behaviour if asked)
• Use appropriate/child friendly language
• Dress appropriately for working with children
• You will not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while volunteering at SHARP
• Only appropriate physical contact will be used. eg: pats on the shoulder. No hugging or kissing or children sitting on knees.
• If someone enters the programme who is not a staff member or volunteer you will need to alert your Supervisor
• Make every attempt to attend all meetings, debriefs and training activities
• If you struggle with any of the areas listed in this Volunteer Service Agreement you need to discuss it with the coordinator.

I will always come to SHARP on the days/ classes assigned to me on the roster.

If I am unable to come to SHARP on an assigned day I will ring the Coordinator at least two hours before I am due to arrive. If I wish to attend something other than SHARP on an assigned day, I will find another current volunteer to work for me and text my Supervisor to inform them who my replacement is.

I understand the above expectations and will work to achieve these to my highest ability.
I understand that I may be stood down or dismissed from leadership if I fail to meet the above expectations.

Your service is conditional upon SHARP Trust receiving a satisfactory police check from the NZ police and Vetting services in relation to your file located with the NZ police. By signing this document you acknowledge that your service will be terminated if your police check is returned unsatisfactory.
