MAY 14 & 21Kia Ora and Welcome
This fortnight we celebrate our mothers and the 30th birthday of the Tuesday Christian Fellowship. Both remind us of the faithfulness, care and mothering heart of God. As Mary, the mother of Jesus said – “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour” (Luke 2 v 46). Our gatherings provide a platform for you to bring your worship to God and to sense the inspiration of God’s spirit. As we celebrate over these next two weeks please come ready to offer your worship and with an openness to what God is saying. We had a great AGM last week. Thank you to all those who came and those who shared. We ratified all those nominated to be Elders. The Elders meet for the first time on Tuesday May 16. Please pray for them in the year ahead as they seek to bring spiritual oversight and strong governance to the church. About nine months ago, the South West Baptist and Hope Presbyterian Elders met for a prayer breakfast, with the intention on considering how we could work together for the sake of the Kingdom of God in the South West of Christchurch. The combined Elders agreed that a small group of leaders from both churches should meet monthly and prayerfully and carefully explore what opportunities could be opening up for collaboration and co-operation. Here is a brief summary of what we have discussed and shared to date: • Opportunities to reach into the growing Wigram community. Grace and peace,

INDIA ![]() The Christian church is vibrant and growing in India, but still only comprises 2% of the population and often faces persecution. There is growing evidence of rising intolerance of Christianity. The Guardian newspaper reported earlier this year, “There is a clear pattern of rising religious intolerance across the Indian sub-continent, which affects many millions of Christians”.A well-known Catholic activist has put it this way: “Where two or three are gathered, the policeman is there long before Jesus is.” Pray for protection for the growing number of house churches and cell groups throughout India, that they will be able to worship in safety. Pray for our brothers and sisters around India to be courageous in living out their faith despite the risks. Attachments |
